“Our Hands Can Save Lives: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Airway Obstruction Relief in the Community”
On April 9 and 10, the SALBIS group conducted a practical workshop on first aid as part of Expociencia, where eight educational institutions, including primary schools, secondary schools, and high schools, as well as many curious visitors, had the opportunity to learn key techniques to respond to various health emergencies.
The workshop covered three essential maneuvers: cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway obstruction relief (choking rescue), and the recovery position. Attendees were able to practice these techniques using different training mannequins under the supervision of the researchers, assisted by volunteer students from the University of León.
The workshop not only provided participants with practical skills, but also emphasized the importance of being prepared for critical situations. This kind of basic training, where the only tools needed are our hands, can make the difference between life and death in emergency moments.
