The research groups SECOMUCI and SALBIS of the University of León have developed an Educational Innovation Project with the proposal of interdisciplinary cooperative work among students of computer engineering and nursing.
The subjects involved have been:
- Semantic modeling techniques on the Web, 4th year, 2nd semester of the Degree in Computer Engineering
- Management of care and nursing services, 3rd year, 2nd semester of Nursing Degree (Ponferrada)
Nursing students had to present a real problem in the scope of health whose solution required the use of ICT tools, and computer engineering students had to propose the technological solution to the problem.
The students have worked together for 40 days. The topics addressed were:
Technological solutions to problems in the monitoring and use of insulin pumps
Patricia Fernández Sierra, Aida García de la Riva, Rosaura García Leonardo, Mario, García Mayo, Héctor González Barrioluengo, Álvaro Losada de Castro
Technological solutions to problems in the monitoring and use of pacemakers

The project has been an important challenge, we achieve to unify two different scientific disciplines like Computer Science and Nursing, but the benefit has also been significant, thanks to interdisciplinarity wok it has been possible to work new competences.
The teachers involved were:
- Dr. Isaías García, Dra. Carmen Benavides, Dr. Jose Alberto Benítez y Dr. Héctor Aláiz from Computer Science
- Ana Diñeiro, Rosa García, Verónica Alfonso y Dra. Pilar Marqués-Sánchez from Nursing
- Dra. Mercedes Reguera, from Physiotherapy
For all the teaching team, the experience was highly satisfactory
