Sergio Rubio Gives a Lecture on the Importance of Artificial Intelligence in Irrigation and Agriculture at the Technical Irrigation Conference
As part of the Technical Irrigation Conference organized by the Community of Irrigators of the Canal Alto de Villares, Sergio Rubio, a researcher from the SALBIS group, participated as a speaker on the first day of the event, held on January 27, 2025. The conference was inaugurated by Mr. Héctor Alaiz Moretón, Deputy Delegate of the Government in León.
In his presentation, Sergio Rubio emphasized the importance of digitalization and data in agriculture, with a special focus on the benefits that artificial intelligence (AI) can bring to irrigation management and the agricultural sector as a whole.
During his lecture, he explained how AI can facilitate various agricultural tasks through innovative solutions such as predictive systems, advanced data analytics, and real-time optimization tools. He also presented practical use cases where AI has demonstrated its ability to enhance irrigation efficiency, anticipate crop water needs, and reduce resource waste, significantly contributing to the sustainability of the sector.
The event brought together farmers, technicians, and other professionals from the agricultural sector, who actively participated in the lecture, showing great interest in the examples and solutions presented. This first session fostered a valuable exchange of ideas on how the combination of tradition and technological innovation can ensure a more efficient and sustainable future for agriculture.
Both the SALBIS group and the University of León are firmly committed to knowledge transfer to rural areas, promoting the adoption of advanced technologies to optimize resources in the agricultural sector.
