Claudia Prieto, a graduate of the ULE, wins the national award for best TFG of Physiotherapy
The graduate Claudia Prieto Álvarez, who completed her studies of Degree in Physiotherapy last academic year 2022 – 2023, has received the national award for best Final Degree Project in the category of systematic review awarded by the Spanish Association of Physiotherapists.
The award-winning work is entitled “Efficacy of physical therapy treatment for pelvic floor dysfunctions in gynecological cancer survivors” and was tutored by SALBIS group member, Raquel Leirós. Thanks to the development of this research, Claudia has been the first to conclude that multimodal physiotherapy is effective in improving quality of life, sexual function, urinary retention and pelvic floor muscle strength in gynecological cancer survivors. However, she also recognizes that more studies are needed to establish a validated working protocol.
