Tell me how you walk and I’ll tell you what hurts you. Podiatry Workshop at Expociencia’24
On 12 and 13 March 2024, Bibiana Trevissón and Ana de Benito, researchers from the SALBIS group, together with other lecturers from the Degree in Podiatry held the workshop ‘Tell me how you walk and I’ll tell you what hurts you’ for schoolchildren and the general public in Ponferrada, as part of the Expociencia activities held at the Ponferrada Campus of the University of León.
The workshop aimed to show the relationship between the way we walk (foot positioning on the ground) and the future development of lower limb or back pathologies. Participants in the workshop were given a pedigraphy (footprint on a sheet of paper) so that they could identify their digital formula and the hyperpressure points. In addition, the causes of injuries linked to flat feet or pes cavus was explained in detail.
The workshop was supported by the technical staff of the Degree, as well as students from the 3rd and 4th years of the Degree in Podiatry, resulting in a success in terms of capacity and participation.
