Raquel Leirós completes her postdoctoral training at the University of Porto
On 31 December, our colleague Dr. Raquel Leirós Rodríguez has finished an 8-month doctoral stay at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto in Portugal.
During these months, she has been trained in basic and applied research techniques related to exercise physiology and ageing. Professor Jorge Augusto Pinto Silva Mota, director of the Centro de Investigação em actividade Física, saúde e Lazer (CIAFEL) and Coordinator of the Servicio de Recreação e Temos Livres de la Facultade de Desporto de la Universidade do Porto, was in charge of tutoring our colleague’s postdoctoral training. Professor Jorge Mota is an expert in the field of the promotion of physical activity in the general population and especially with older people. He has been working for years in European projects focused on active ageing and promoting healthy lifestyles.
In addition to establishing relationships with researchers and teachers in Portugal, during her stay, Raquel has actively participated in different research projects developed in teams with Spanish, Brazilian, English and Greek colleagues who were also complementing their training at the University of Porto.
As a result of these months of work, in parallel to the development of different scientific articles, the SALBIS group has been represented through this colleague in the Liga Académica de Terapias Manuais e Alternativas-LATMA Weekend (June 2021, Sergipe), the II Congresso Brasileiro Digital de Fisioterapía (September 2021, Sergipe), the 25th Congresso Português de Obesidade (November 2021, Lisbon), the 4th Annual Conference Strenght and Conditioning for Human Performance (November 2021, Porto) and the II Congresso Internacional Interdisciplinar sobre Representaçoes Sociais e sobre Qualidade de Vida do Vale de Sao Francisco-CIRSQVASF (December 2021, Alagoas).
