Lara Martínez Gimeno winner of the Nursing in Development award in the University – doctoral thesis category
On 25 November, the Nursing in Development Awards 2021 edition were held, bringing together more than 1800 nursing professionals, healthcare managers and associations, public figures and authorities from all over the country. In this edition, the Nursing in Development Award in the Doctoral Thesis category went to Lara Martínez, professor and coordinator of Final Degree Projects at the Centro Universitario San Rafael-Nebrija and member of the SALBIS Group.
Her thesis Proyecto de implantación de evidencia y análisis de redes sociales de transferencia del conocimiento en profesionales de enfermería has been developed in the International PhD programme in Applied Research in Health Sciences by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the University of León and the University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Portugal) and directed by Nélida Fernández Martínez and Gema Escobar Aguilar.
Lara Martínez’s project has evaluated the effectiveness of a model for the implementation of evidence-based recommendations in pain, falls prevention and urinary incontinence on patient outcomes and the quality of units in the National Health System during 2015-2018. It also explored the social networks of knowledge transfer among the nursing professionals who participated in the project.
At the awards ceremony, after receiving the award, Professor Lara Martínez expressed her gratitude to Pilar Marqués Sánchez and Antonia Ovalle Perandones for providing the social vision to this thesis. She also extended her thanks to her family, friends and thesis supervisors. And lastly, the laureate wished to dedicate the award to the nursing profession.
