Elena Fernández gives the inaugural lecture for the 2020/2021 academic year at the Ponferrada Campus of the University of León
Our colleague Elena Fernández has been in charge of teaching the inaugural lesson of the 2020/2021 academic year at the Ponferrada Campus of the University of León. Under the title “Year 2020, adapting to the pandemic. Role of emotions”, has developed and compiled the work carried out by our research group on this topic.
The year 2020 will be remembered in human history as the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also as the year declared by the World Health Organization as the year of nurses and midwives.
The risk of this pandemic is not only a health problem, but it has serious socio-economic and psychological implications. The Covid-19 pandemic has implications for individual and collective health and the emotional and social functioning of the population. This situation will test the adaptability of all individuals, where emotions and how to manage them play a fundamental role.
If adversity is well managed, its outcome can be positive or neutral and individuals will move toward the pole of health, however, if adversity is not well managed, the person will move toward the pole of disease
The opening lesson can be heard in the following video:
